Beauty and intelligence have one important thing in common…everyone gets their own definition. Sure, most of us share common ideas about what makes someone pretty or smart but deep down everyone rewrites the definitions to suit their strengths. (But just so that you know, that two inch mole is NOT a beauty mark.) I’ve known too many math geniuses who couldn’t fit in at a party if their life depended on it.

Here are some things I use to define intelligence: a sense of humor, avoiding troubling entanglements with other people, and being above the influence of pop culture. If you’re taking your cues on style and speech from entertainers (remember clowns are entertainers too) then I think you’re stupid. I really do.

That’s why I’ve carefully forged my own specific style. Leather work boots with dress slacks (Absolutely!), Quad-XL flannels over dress shirt and tie (Everyday Baby), old kakis with a sweatshirt (Comfy), are some of the pillars of “Matt’s Style.”

Look, I’m married and I have friends so that must mean something!
